Microsoft Lumia 435 Windows mobile Phone Review

Microsoft has been one of the leading IT companies of the World, which has now created its mark in the mobile World. After taking over one of the most popular and perhaps one of the oldest mobile phone brands Nokia, it had launched Lumia 532, which created quite a buzz in the mobile world. It has again launched Lumia 435, an entry level Windows phone. Although, one shouldn’t expect some high-end specifications and features; however, Microsoft has provided the best they could in this entry-level phone and is quite close to the cheapest Windows phone of the company, the Lumia 530. Let’s have a closer look at this new phone from the PC giant.

Design and Display

The Lumia 435 comes in a bar form factor and looks similar to all its predecessors. It features the same large bezel like Lumia 530 having dimensions of 118.1×64.7 and thickness of 11.7 mm, which adds to its looks. It weights 134.1 gm, which is quite light and is easy to hold. It comes with changeable back covers, which makes its different from other Lumia phones. It has volume keys, USB port, power key and a 3.5m jack. The back panel is made of hard plastic material with high grip, smooth but not polished; apart from the factor that it is resistant to sweat and fingerprints. It has curved beveled back design for convenience of users. The power key and volume keys are located on the right side and below the screen three touch buttons similar to the all Windows Phone and Microsoft logo. The camera is located on the Back panel along with the loudspeaker.

This entry-level phone features a 4 inch screen with resolution of 480×800 pixels, having a pixel density of 233ppi, which is little smaller and of course not as sharper. The experience of reading text, playing games and watching videos isn’t that great but comparing to an entry-level phone, it is acceptable. However, the display is quite bright, clear and with full details and can be used for a longer time without straining the eyes. The quality capacitive touch screen of the phone is also very good. It uses IPS instead of TFT panels, which is known to deliver brighter colors and better viewing angles than the TFT panels.

Processor, Operating System and Storage

Even though, it is a cheap phone the factors of this phone has a lot of excellent features as compared to other phones of the same category. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual-core processor with Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chip and Adreno 302 graphics, which ensures amazing performance. It is supported by 1 GB RAM, which facilitates smooth performance as well as multi-tasking without any glitch. It is a windows phone so; it is quite different in terms of performance with the same specifications in an Android phone. The touch screen is quite smooth and responsive but loading of games is much slower, nevertheless the other apps load quite faster.

Running on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system and equipped with the latest Denim update, which ensures better improvements in the interface, offline map allows you to use even when there is no network. The phone comes with pre-installed applications, which include Windows applications Office, virtual assistants, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Zalo, Skype, Line, OneNote, OTT and OneDrive Cortana.

The phone has a huge storage space up to 8GB of internal memory is expanded with memory card slot up to 128GB and 30GB free storage on OneDrive. So now, storage is not a problem and moreover, it is a great phone that offers ample storage as compared to other phone in the same range.


The phone sports a 2 MP rear camera with fixed focus and no flash. Hence, the image quality is just average. The camera has autofocus, support video recording with a resolution of 480×800 pixels at 30fps. The Lumia Camera application with two modes, which include Auto and pro with white balance, brightness, maximum exposure, Lumia Selfie app with filters and effects such as beauty face, adjust the eyes and skin. In good lighting conditions, the image quality is fine but night shooting ability isn’t great, infact it is quite poor. There is a VGA camera equipped in the front panel, which is capable of serving the needs of video calls and for selfies.

Connectivity Features

The new Lumia 435 supports 3G network in both single and dual SIM variants. The phone supports Micro-SIM along with AV connector is 3.5 mm Headphone jack and system connector is Micro-USB (of type B). Bluetooth 4.0 with supported profile A2DP. Wireless connectivity options include WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi hotspot with support to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices. GPS and Navigation technologies include A-GPS, GLONASS; Wi-Fi based network positioning and Free, Offline maps. HERE Maps, HERE Drive+, Bing Maps ensures proper Navigation.

Battery and Price

The battery life of 1560mAh of the device is not perfect, but the configuration and screen of the phone not so high so this battery capacity is acceptable. Lumia 435 can withstand more than one day for basic needs such as calling, messaging, web browsing, using social networking and entertainment with a low frequency, adjust the screen brightness at low level. The battery is rechargeable via microUSB port. It comes with a price tag of 5,999/-.


The Microsoft Lumia 435 is one of the cheapest phones available in the Smartphone market. Although, the phone is not loaded with high-end features and functionalities, but it comes with some really good features, which are quite attractive. In terms of performance, it is quite decent as compared to other phone in the same price range. It is a good phone in the range, which is worth buying.
